Pet Adoption

Stand Up For Animals & Westerly Animal Shelter

SUFA is pleased to refer you to the Westerly Animal Shelter for pet adoption. A pet is a life long responsibility.  The Shelter has a selection of animals available for adoption.  These animals have already been abandoned or given up to us.  It is the Shelter’s responsibility to ensure that the new homes found for them will be their forever homes where they will be cared for and loved unconditionally.

Click below to view the animals currently available for adoption at the Westerly Animal Shelter or call Nikea Killam, the Assistant Shelter Director at (401) 348-2617, (401) 348-2618 or by EMAIL for more details. Please note that the Westerly Animal Shelter and SUFA share the same facility, and our hours are generally the same as theirs.  For Animal Control issues: 401-348-2558

Our Pet of the Month and our Featured Pets are also available for adoption.  For more information about our Pet of the Month or other animals currently up for adoption, contact the number above.

Peyton ~ September Pet of the Month

(bio and write up provided by the Westerly Shelter)

Peyton is a young 1 1/2-year-old, very athletic, very strong , happy, friendly girl. She is an adorable American Bulldog, weighing approximately 60 pounds and is ALL muscle.  We feel she lacks socialization with young children and her strength alone could be a detriment with young children. Peyton requires a strong, confident, and experienced owner who will continue with her needs for daily exercise and training. A fenced in yard would be optimum and ideal but not limited to her needs.  We have not evaluated her with other dogs at this time but could be an option to try depending on the situation however, cats are an absolute no. Peyton is spayed, up to date on shots and microchipped.

If interested in this lovely, young girl, and you feel you could provide her with exercise, patience, and love please contact the Westerly Animal Shelter or [email protected] for a meet and greet.
